iBiker, Alive and Well….sort of…

Digging out at the Northern compound

Contrary to rumors, and even the hopes and dreams of some, the iBiker is indeed alive and well.  It’s been a very, very hectic couple months.  To start, iBikerBlog HQ has been relocated, along with all of the associated projects, tools, parts, and various shenanigans.  And as shocking as it might be for those out there in the Blogosphere, iBikerBlog does not pay iBiker’s bills.  I do have to “work”, and said “work” has taken me to Japan and back twice since my last posting.  Coupled with holidays, sub-zero temperatures, and the general depression associated with being a biker in Michigan in the winter, there has been very little time for actual motorcycle stuff.

I know what you’re thinking, gentle reader…winter is the time for projects and upgrades!  Well, that’d be a negative.  When daytime highs only reach a pathetic 5 degrees, well, I’m not going out there to jerk around with the bikes in the unheated, uninsulated iBikerBlog R&D facility, otherwise known as my garage.

Yes, that’s ice on the windshield.

However, while most Michigan bikes are stowed away in dealerships, barns, sheds, and garages awaiting those (two) perfect Michigan riding days (one of which you’ll be at work and the other at some jerk’s wedding), my Dyna is paying penance for last year’s extended holiday.  I am pleased to report that I have now run, officially, year around in Michigan.  I was able to ride through December 23, and just barely squeaked in January with a nice little around town jaunt on the 31st.  February normally is tough, but we ripped it a couple times when the temps made it to the teens and the sun came out.  March so far can just go ahead and bite me…but Saturday is the day.

There are some really cool projects and trips in the pipeline for 2015.  There’s the seemingly never-ending Ironhead bobber that should be wrapped up very shortly. I’ve decided to do a handlebar swap on the Dyna before the season really kicks off, and there’s a handful of maintenance and repair issues that are now in progress.  Most notably, there’s a really cool old-school bike project that will be announced here on iBikerBlog in the next few weeks.

On the road trip front…how about a pre-rally Sturgis trip, Ohio Bike Week, Easy Rider Rodeo, and, wait for it…The El Diablo Run!  Yes, my friends; I’m packing a bag and going to take iBikerBlog international.  Running it from Temecula, California, down into Mexico.  Should be a ride of a lifetime.  Stay tuned!
